Yes, Matt's residency was derailed a bit, due to scheduling conflicts. But he will be back on Dec. 2, closing it out in grand style!

Just added - Aziz's friend, Ellie Kemper from New York City! Add that to Brendon Walsh, Mary Mack, and Nathan Barnatt, and we have a record FOUR all-new-to-CDR folks! Not to be missed!!

And where is Brody in all of this? He has usually posted his pre-show whereabouts by now.

Brendon Walsh was definitely my favorite of the night.

I'm really curious to see other people's opinions on the show...

No photo recap from me this week, I couldn't make it to the show... sorry folks!

Curious what Nathan Barnatt did though, I thought he was a lot of fun at the wrestling show a couple months back.

I'll write more later... Too busy talking about my morning brush with Eddie Murphy via Facebook status updates, comments and a Coffeebean.

    Heating up my profile, phweww...

Anyway, enjoyed last night. Time flies when you're buzzing, and I earned it!

Cullen, Kindler, Zach and Thune... plus a whole lotta new, faces to CDR, who'll be back real soon... like a noon in June?

    Humor Retardant Rhyme-less Recap.

As always, a great blend of suspense with The SYNT crew hanging in the shadows.

I am no good at writing recaps (Avoiding eye contact with ILIS as he’s the best at it), but I thought I’d write a line or two about the performers since there are no pics this week.
Andy Kindler made his triumphant return to CDR after a long (Too long, IMO) hiatus. He revealed his new catchphrase, asked us where he could buy a commemorative McCain coin and wanted us to help him write a joke about a time machine. Zach G walked through his set a couple of times and Andy kept commenting that he couldn't do anything because he was waiting to see what Zach would do next. I loved his set.
Nick Thune did a set of mostly if not all new stuff – including a joke about his donation to locks of love and a bit about the need for sensible milkshake glass sizes.
I had never seen Mary Mack and I enjoyed her jokes and song. She reminds me a lot of Maria Bamford in an awesome way. She sang a song (can’t remember the title) about finding spiritual fulfillment in roller derby and then played a recorder (I hope Isos had shown up by this point) and led a sing-a-long to “Don’t Fence Me In” The highlight of that for me was hearing someone off to the side singing along and it was Sean Cullen who knew all the words to the song.
Nathan Barnatt was an action hero named Gawl Senglelis who had some nice jokes and is infinite flexible. Kicks and punches Graham Elwood would be proud of.
Sean Cullen revealed that he is in fact a human man. This was one of the better sets I’ve seen Sean do. Not that he’s never funny, but he found a good groove working the crowd early on and built some nice stuff.
Ellie Kemper read us an email exchange she had with a person she recently sublet with. Bottom line: Don’t let her sublet your place if you do “inventory” after your tenants leave.
It was the first time I had seen Brendon Walsh and I liked him alot. He broke it all down Cali 1975 (what his sweatshirt read) and told us how he goes about bumming people out and how a lady bamboozled him at the grocery store. The best part of the set for me was he told us that he knows that when he walks by teenage girls he knows they tease each other and say “Sheila, here comes your boyfriend.”
Brody Stevens was Brody and as usual I enjoyed him. He opened and closed with some drumming. He discovered that there were a shocking number of high school drop-outs in the crowd. Personally, I was shocked how many people said they were from “here” when he asked them where they were from, but then revealed they went to high school somewhere outside of Los Angeles. (That’s just the 818 snob in me, I guess)
"There was no joke in there words-wise" - Andy Kindler

"Defend your book, NERD!" - Graham Elwood

    The best part about this:

    1. Andy called Zach the "thinking man's Pauly Shore."

    2. Andy mentioned how Zach always half-asses his jokes, even his funny hair is only mildly amusing.

Also, Brody Stevens knocked it way out of the park.

FYI - we have just put this week's tickets on sale. But due to extenuating circumcisions, I can't post the lineup until Saturday. But all you regulars, buy 'em up!
