That sounds like a level headed solution.

My wife and I are approaching 40 and don't have kids. And we would never dream of telling anyone else whether they should or shouldn't. That, however, hasn't stopped practically everyone we know that does have kids from condescendingly telling us, "Oh, you'll change your mind some day" (even though medically, we can't. Something they didn't bother to find out).

Could you imagine if we did this in reverse? "Sure, you say you're happy about being pregnant now, but you wait a few years. You'll want to kill it. I bet I'm gonna read about you drowning your kids in a kiddie pool, and I'll think to myself, 'I told you so....'. You would be such a great child murderer, I just know it!!"

Sorry dude, I'll try harder in the future to recognize 'Hyperbole meant in lieu your point'.

In the meantime, why not grab yourself a cup of tea and relax?

I'd love to relax if I could be assured that every time I said something I wouldn't be jumped on by you dude. I noticed that I made that typo as well and edited...clearly not before you had the chance to read it though, yeah? I'm sorry, but I thought it was pretty clear that a)I didn't think those people should have their civil rights revoked and b)that I actually sympathize with people in your situation. I don't think it's right for anyone to tell another person what they can or can't do with their junk. That was my point, and a pretty clear one...but considering that you like to hack on me every chance you get, maybe you can see why I'd be defensive of my post?

I woke up today and sleepily asked my girlfriend if it was raining outside. Her response:

I'm not your fucking weatherman, I'm your girlfriend... Jesus! Then she ate an entire thing of ben and jerry's creme brulee ice cream and watched netflix in her pajamas.

    It was raining.

That's almost what some of our friends/acquaintances have done! I told one of them that we wanted to have children and they just looked at me and shook their head in the most condescending way and said "ugh. Your life will be over." Another one told me that it was irresponsible to bring kids into the world and I'd regret it when the world became even more overpopulated. Somehow this behavior is accepted in my circle of semi-hipsters (really not bad people, I promise) but if I pressured them or criticized them for NOT having children, I'd be strung up.

I realize it's due to years of people giving them shit for not wanting children, and all the pressure parents can put on people who don't want to have kids, but still. Let me procreate in peace.

You will make awesome, funny little curly babies that your friends will love. I don't care how anti-baby people say they are, friend's babies are the BOMB. You get all the fun and then you get to hand them off and walk away when they poop, cry or act like snotty teenagers!

We've gone from, "You're not married? You've no kids? What a freak!" to "You want to get married and have kids? What a freak!"

People should mind their own p' and q's.

I think it's actually Peeners and Quunts. The latter is a French pronunciation. (I realize that you're aware of this. I am explaining it for my fellow yanks.)

Quampons is the best word ever. And it makes a great name for a baby!

We found out the hard way that the best way to have all of the fun sucked out of doing a wedding blog is finding out that some of your wife's zine readers are child-free zealots. Check out the comments here, for example. (Actually, that turns out to be mostly anti-wedding madness; for child-free lunacy, please go here.)

While I obviously don't want to encourage you to have children, scammy, and I sincerely feel for you if finding out that you couldn't caused you and your wife any pain, I know too many really heartwarming adoption stories to believe that is the only option. That said, we were thinking about adoption until we found out how expensive it was to buy a kid, so there are no easy answers.

I find the anti-wedding post more interesting. 15,000 isn't a lot for a wedding right? Is their idea to get it recognized at a courthouse with little ceremony?
