Continuing to employ their cutting-edge, "Hey, women are funny!" approach to programming, NBC has signed Mindy Kaling to a two-year development deal. [Variety] This could mean a lot of things, but one thing it apparently doesn't mean is the departure of Mindy's character Kelly Kapoor from NBC's "The Office" next season. Instead, the plan is for Kaling to develop a new series in which she will star while she continues writing and acting duties on the Emmy-winning Thursday night comedy. Beyond that, who knows... But it's a good sign that NBC is again investing in great writer/performer talent to build on the comedy foundation they've established with "The Office" and "30 Rock."
