    Re: Doug Stanhope general thread

Over the last three years Stanhope has been as good as anyone. Exeunt, whatever that means.

Now go watch "Withnail and I." The best use of Hendrix in a movie ever.

    Re: Advice from Charlyne Yi

This one's more open-ended: got any ideas on where to start? Kind of venue? Town? Situations to avoid or attach yourself to?

    Re: "The Hangover" out today

One out of one thepeople'shellbows agree, and are in agreeance with theodoric. Call it storytelling / Harold /whatever but if you see the movie and recognize the structure, consciously or not, then...

    Re: "The Hangover" out today

It had a theater full of gutlaughter in Idaho. Yes, Idaho.

The third act was a bit predictable but that seems to be a hallmark of most 'Harold'-style improv, which ties narrative threads together...

    Re: Sporots

Good series between the Pens and Wings. It's so nice that Bettman put it on the Versus Network, just to cheese me off.

  8. Re: After Last Season: Greatest Movie Ever?

Thanks yumitree for the info. Was prematurely giddy at the thought of seeing it - now I will rely on Netflix.
  9. Re: Free screening of Zach's new movie "The Hangover" 3/12

Went to a pay screening on June 6th. Fifteen people in the theater. Laughing. Hard.

What makes the movie go, though, is the narrative style, which keeps you hooked (and even piecing together...

Re: Briefcase Joe (AKA Jimmy Kimmel)

Surrounding yourself with funny people and hiring funny writers makes you funnier. Give Kimmel props for that.
  12. Re: David Carradine found dead in Thailand.

Raul Julia's last movie was "Street Fighter" . . .
  13. Re: After Last Season: Greatest Movie Ever?

Saw "The Hangover" (stellar!) today. Since unhinged = goodness, I will search for a Cinemark theater in a theater near me.

    Re: Comedy Books

Belzer's is hit-and-miss, but a disappointment considering how smart a comic I think he is.

Comedy-By-The-Numbers made me laugh and reminded me what's hack. Franklin Ajaye's book with comedians...
  15. Re: "MacGruber" Movie to be Filmed This Summer

Am I the only person here who has never seen the SNL original?
  16. Re: What hackey comics do that make them hackey..

    I was.
  17. Poll: Re: May 21... How are you spending your comedy dollar?

Respekt to PFT and DGS. I hope this thread sold a few tickets for each . . .

and yeah, I know how to spell.
  18. Re: What hackey comics do that make them hackey..

Hack to joke about; heavenly to receive.
  19. Re: What hackey comics do that make them hackey..

Been there, did it. But if I'm gonna to criticize, I gotta publicly point to greatness as well.
  20. Re: Anyone here taken UCB/Second City classes?

Thanks ASR, a class at BATS in San Francisco - though good - costs $400. And I thought UCB would be more.

More gooder than that is your opinion of the class.
  21. Re: What hackey comics do that make them hackey..

I like Gene George a little more each time I come to this board.
  22. Re: What hackey comics do that make them hackey..

If the pun makes my jaw drop (". . . the birds are on the ledge saying 'coup, coup' . . . ) I will groan but clap.
  23. Re: Anyone here taken UCB/Second City classes?

Cost? Jus' curious -- never really considered taking a class until this thread.
  24. Re: Grown Ups (Formerly Untitled Happy Madison Project)

Norm can act. He plays Norm MacDonald very well. And I love Norm.

The premise gives them a lot of room to do . . . something. So what do you think they will do?

    Re: Advice For Parents

    Thank you for failblog, meen.

I once knew a girl who, after setting the carseat down on the pavement behind the car, forgot to set the parking brake. The car started rolling backward; her infant...
