    Re: Listen! Is this anything?

I was actually going to listen to it, but the file is gone. Also, the world is full of haters, and this sub-forum is no exception. Welcome.

    Re: Telling Jokes to friends.

I explain that I don't really have "jokes" like street jokes, then I offer to tell them about my vasectomy. It is probably a good thing that I am not seeking long-term employment.

    Re: Open mic experiences

I am with you. What are you thinking of doing to try to overcome it? I save new ideas for a room where I feel most confident and I know the comics won't turn on me for doing a couple of shitty jokes.

    Re: Open mic experiences

Why is this bad advice? If people don't do this aren't they pandering? I get that the guy who gave the advice is an idiot, but that doesn't make him wrong.

    Re: Where to start?

I live in my car in Austin. It is fine, depending on your car. I recommend a 1998 Honda Civic or 2000 Olds Alero as they have both served me well. I have a nice quiet parking space with wifi for $0....

    Re: Where to start?

Go to Portland. Or come to Austin. I have been here for a month and a half and really like it. There are enough open mics that you can do six sets a week, possibly more once you are good enough, with...

Re: Help us with our jokes

it just seems too long with the explanation up front. I would put the same emphasis on mom/cheryl and would really draw out would you please

    I also thought of this:

    Re: Open mic experiences

Sorry Vercetti. I don't blame you for leaving the stage. I also think that story illustrates how important the host/mc is for a show. If someone with some gravitas gets on stage first and sets the...

I am all for insulting audiences and repeating something until getting pulled off stage, but you shouldn't have thrown the mic down, you could have broken it. After watching a couple of your Youtube...

    Erik,
I think your advice for people to deal with hecklers is admirable, but I think that it only applies to other performers that fit into your archetype. Most of the time in my experience, a...
