Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Judd Apatow announce "Anchorman 2"

It was announced today that "Anchorman 2" will be produced under Judd Apatow's production banner. Adam McKay will direct as well as cowrite the script with star Will Ferrell, with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd also returning as their characters Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana.

The news was confirmed by Judd Apatow on his Twitter , with Apatow saying "Anchorman 2 is on!...By which I mean it is going to be made. It's not actually on TV right now." Ron Burgundy also appears to now have his own Twitter account, where news about the film's production will no doubt soon appear.

In addition, Ferrell will appear tonight on "Conan" on TBS in character as Ron Burgundy to promote the film. Here's a look at Ron in action, complete with (of course) his legendary jazz flute:

Maybe they can make SB2 out of the alt takes of RB2, like how they made Wake Up Ron Burgundy.
