"Wilfred", "Louie" Season 2 begin on F/X tonight

Two comedies begin new seasons tonight on cable channel F/X. First at 10 is "Wilfred", based on a critically acclaimed Australian series. Elijah Wood stars as Ryan, an introvert struggling to make his way in the world until he meets Wilfred (played by Jason Gann, co-creator of the Australian series), his neighbor's canine pet. While the world sees Wilfred as a dog, Ryan sees Wilfred as a man dressed in a dog suit. Wilfred was adapted for FX by David Zuckerman ("Family Guy", "American Dad'), who wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer/showrunner.

Then at 10:30 is the premiere of Season 2 of "Louie", starring comedian Louis CK. In tonight's episode, "Pregnant", Louie receives a visit from his very pregnant sister. Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes.

Outside of his work in the Lord of the Rings movies, I've always liked Elijah Wood for some reason (he had a great dancy-dance on Yo Gabba Gabba). So I guess I'll check it out. Shrug.

I found myself involuntarily smiling the whole episode of Wilfred. I don't really have a specific reason I liked it, but I did.

I liked the first episode of "Wilfred" too. It has an interesting darkness to it and the guy who plays Wilfred is a compelling actor. Even if he's not the focus of the scene, if you watch him he's usually doing something funny. I'm curious to see where it goes from here.

I don't know what Jixby's on about; does your dog tell you what to do or something, Jixby?

Louie's premiere was a thing of pure beauty and Wilfred was interesting enough to grab me for at least a few more episodes.

My guess would be that someone in a dog costume did something bad to him when he was young. Or maybe, he did something bad to a young person while he was in a dog costume?

Wilfred was very cathartic.
I can't wait what they're going to do with the series.

I think that Wilfred show is great. In the last episode -- and this is where it really won me over -- there is a scene where the dog is chasing a red laser pointer and he goes "Where are you, you gray bastard!"
