This weekend: Hannibal Buress's "Animal Furnace", "The Eric Andre Show"
This Sunday on Comedy Central, following the premiere of Aziz Ansari's "Dangerously Delicious" special at 10 PM (as Aziz has said on his Twitter, it's "20 minutes shorter, and with bleeps", compared to the version available on his website for $5), Hannibal Buress's new hour-long special, "Animal Furnace", will premiere at 11 PM. The special will also be available as a DVD and CD next Tuesday, May 22nd.
Hannibal also appears as the sidekick on "The Eric Andre Show", which premieres tonight (technically tomorrow) on Adult Swim at 12:30 AM. The show follows a traditional talk show format which quickly devolves into chaos as its inept and bipolar host, Eric Andre (ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23"), along with his apathetic co-host (Buress), subvert all late night conventions. Taking place on a dingy public-access TV channel within an alternate reality, "The Eric Andre Show" creates its own distorted pop culture universe by conducting interviews with an unpredictable mix of actual celebrities, "fake" celebrities and extreme real-life weirdos. These interviews are broken up with deranged man-on-the-street segments, surreal flashes of inexplicable studio chaos, talk show desk-pieces and the general deconstruction of late night's most beloved tropes in every 15 minute episode. The Eric Andre Show is produced by Abso Lutely and executive produced by Eric Andre, Andrew Barchilon, Kitao Sakurai, Daniel Weidenfeld ("China, IL"), and Dave Kneebone ("Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!").
