After airing 4 episodes of the Mitch Hurwitz-produced animated series, FOX has apparently decided to pull the plug on "Sit Down, Shut Up." The fifth episode, "Math Lab," which was to be the season finale, was scheduled to air this Sunday night, but will be replaced in that time slot by a rerun of "King of the Hill" instead. The show, which has received mixed reviews both in the press and here on AST, performed poorly in the ratings in its March 10th airing, receiving a dismal 0.7 rating/3 share among adults 18-49. Although Hurwitz and many of the cast members involved in the show are alumni of the critically beloved FOX sitcom "Arrested Development," the general consensus has been that the show hasn't quite lived up to the legacy of that cult favorite.
Given the show's poor ratings and critical reception, it is not expected to return to FOX's schedule in the fall, although no official announcement has been made by the network yet. FOX's upfront presentation is scheduled for May 18th, at which time their full fall schedule is expected to be announced.
