Scott Aukerman lands head writing gig on MTV Movie Awards

Scott Aukerman confirms on Twitter that he has been hired as head writer of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, to be hosted by Andy Samberg. With the pre-taped pieces done, Aukerman's duties will mainly include writing bits for Samberg to perform during the live broadcast. Yes, bits: apparently Samberg wants to do something different from the standard monologue-style topical jokes we are accustomed to hearing from an awards show host. Unrelated question: are you allowed to say "dong" on MTV?

The MTV Movie Awards air on Sunday, May 31st, 9ET/6PT.

In case this gets lost somehow in Mr. Aukerman's twittering: Aukerman's slot on Comedy Death Ray Radio will be filled for the next two weeks by Chris Hardwick.
