Resolved: Futurama cast is returning for new season

Step away from the suicide booth: after a tense standoff over their contracts for the new season, the original cast of "Futurama" has reportedly agreed to terms with Fox. According to Variety.com:

Three of the five "Futurama" cast members - Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille - have just sealed pacts with 20th Century Fox TV to return to the show as it reboots with 26 new episodes for Comedy Central. The show's other two voice stars, Billy West and John DiMaggio, are expected to follow suit shortly.

While some fans on AST expressed curiosity at how a "Futurama" with different voices might play (and others had fun imagining casting options like Artie Lange as Bender), most were distraught over the news that the cast might not return. Now we can go back to worrying about how the reduced budget for the new season will affect the show's quality!

Sweet! What about Phil LaMarr? I always loved him on Mad TV and the many other shows and cartoons he's been in.

I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure Phil LaMarr was always technically a GUEST STAR. I just remember somebody saying that in the commentary for one of the episodes. I think it had to do with him not being in the pilot. Wait, he wasn't in the pilot, was he?

There's only 7 episodes without him according to imdb...maybe they just didn't want to give him benefits.

"Futurama" will return with its original voice cast, says The Hollywood Reporter.

After a standoff with 20th Century Fox TV over salary, the five "Futurama" actors on Friday reached an agreement with the producing studio to reprise their parts on the show, set to come back with new episodes on Comedy Central in mid-2010.

The deals for Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, John DiMaggio and Billy West all closed with 20th TV on Friday.

"We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back," "Futurama" creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen said in a statement. "The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters."
