Paul F. Tompkins' new album sets sail December 1st

Paul F. Tompkins' second album, "Freak Wharf," will be released on December 1st by AST Records. The much-anticipated follow-up to 2007's "Impersonal," "Freak Wharf" was recorded at the Lakeshore Theater in Chicago on St. Patrick's Day weekend and finds Paul as loose and sublimely silly as you've ever heard him. Featuring favorites like "The Sink and The Mirror," "Cake v. Pie" and "Go Ask Alice," the album also includes less structured moments, including the sprawling 15-minute riff that opened the Lakeshore show. "Freak Wharf" will be available in select stores, at astrecords.com and, of course, on iTunes -- but something tells me you're not going to want to miss the special CD packaging... Look for presale info here soon.

Re: Paul F. Tompkins' new album sets sail December 1st

My parents JUST asked what I want for Christmas....I would ask for this but I'm going to need to pre-order it so I get it the day it comes in.

It is RIDICULOUS that I only have one album of my favorite comedian of all time.....I'm glad I get another.

Re: Paul F. Tompkins' new album sets sail December 1st

I am really happy that the CD is including the riffing. I definitely had my fingers crossed for that to happen. I loved the material of course, but that was some of the most wonderfully ridiculous stuff I've seen him do. I can't freaking wait.

Re: Paul F. Tompkins' new album sets sail December 1st

Again thanks to AST records for including the riffing at the start of the show. I'm going to buy multiple copies for family and friends and give them as X-mas gifts because I have had so many people tell me they really like the clips and tracks I've shared with them from Impersonal and the CDR recording.

I'm not sure what the picture is on the original post, but if it's any indication:

Greatest album artwork ever.

are all the "select stores" carrying this album gonna be in the los angeles area? i'd normally jump on the itunes release but i'm intrigued by this hyped packaging.

Our distributor can theoretically sell to any retail outlet, so I would encourage you to tell your local record store (or Best Buy, or wherever you buy CDs) that you want this. Ryan can give you more info on what to tell them...
