Nate Bargatze's "Yelled At By a Clown" out today!

Nate Bargatze is going to be huge and this album is proof. 52 minutes of classic comedy done right. A fresh and innocent take on story-driven stand-up. Highly recommended to anyone smart enough to read this forum. Get it on iTunes, or on CD.

Nate and I started out around the same time in Nashville. I remember seeing him early on and thinking, "Oh, this guy's funny." Then a few years passed, I saw him again and realized, "Oh, this guy's really, really funny. He's actually gonna make it." I've quoted his Wal-Mart bit to dozens of people. He's one of the local-boys-done-good that made me happy to quit pursuing standup. I didn't need to waste these audience's time. They could be seeing someone awesome like Nate instead. I'm gonna go listen to this right now. Everyone else should do the same.

Talking to him when he was in Louisville he said he actually started in Chicago then moved to NY. He was one of the coolest people I've met, very approachable.

funkyrhino you have thoroughly debunked my post. I concede!

100% full PJZ bio disclosure!!! When I was starting out as a mildly competent standup in 2001, I remember meeting Nate on a couple occasions in Nashville and being told by our mutual friend Keith Alberstadt (a very funny, kindly gentleman) that Nate was a Nashville comic, even though he may have already moved away at that point. I can't exactly recall, and my archivist is on vacation right now. I apologize for the confusion.

Let the official AST record show that PJZ does not claim to be in close personal contact or have ever been friends with the hilarious Nate Bargatze! We were barely acquaintances. He certainly doesn't remember me, and the only reason I remember him is because he was obviously funny then, and every few years, my buddy Keith would tell me about how much funnier he was getting, so I paid attention to his career. Let the record also show that I foolishly gave iTunes $9.99 today, when I could have given Amazon $8.99. I didn't even bother to check first! Lastly, let the record show that his comedy album is truly hilarious, and when Nate Bargatze does explode in national popularity, I am going to expand my initial lie to include the fact that he and I grew up on the same block together and have been best friends since 3rd grade when we both had a crush on Lisa Murphy, but rather than like either of us back, she went steady with Pete Fowler who was the coolest kid in school. We became blood brothers at the jungle gym after school that day and then went back to his house and watched Small Wonder and looked at his Dad's nudie magazines.

I listened to this today and laughed my dick off. Solid from start to finish, every ASTer will guarantee love it. I've been worried that comedy albums are a dying art, but this gives me new hope. Thanks to AST for another killer album!!

Saw him at the Boston Comedy Festival a few years ago and it was one of those 'I'd be shocked if he didn't win' perforrmances, and he tied I guess. Either way I'll be picking this up and wish I'd gone to see him in Providence last week :/
