Louis C.K. Will Offer New Special On His Website

Louis C.K. is recording his next special in New York City in less than a week, and according to the man himself on Conan, he'll be offering the special himself via his website starting December 10th (happy birthday, me!). It will be available via Paypal for the low price of five dollars, and will be available exclusively through the website (no iTunes, Netflix or otherwise). The special is being taped at the Beacon Theater in New York City, and tickets still seem to be available (as far as I can tell, anyway). Louis's website is louisck.net.

I'm just as curious about how this turns out monetarily as I am the special itself. We have a guy who is arguably the biggest stand-up in the world right now... so the number he makes off of this is almost like a comedy state of the union, you know? I'm thinking that he has at least 50,000 global fans that will shell out five bucks to see this... and that's me trying to be pessimistic (or me being a dickhead when he ends up making 22 grand off of this). Anyone know what the typical deal for an HBO special is worth?

How well can this guy sell a premise and fit little sidejokes and shenanigans into everything? At one point he simply said the word "folks" in a sentence and was able to extract laughs based off the premise that he, in that moment, was laughing at his goofy usage of the word "folks" as if this was just occurring to him and not part of the plan. If you give that same line/concept to another comedian that can't sell it, half the crowd sits there in silence thinking, "feels forced, GUY."


Well worth five bucks... would buy again. A+
