Listen: WTF with Marc Maron: Louis CK, Part 2

Today brings part two of Marc Maron's fascinating two-part interview with Louis CK. Part one found Maron and CK chronicling their lengthy and tumultuous friendship as well as sharing heartfelt and hilarious recollections from their early days. Part two brings Louis's personal journey to the present day while also discussing "Lucky Louie" and his hit show on FX, "Louie."

What a great episode. Very touching. Interesting to hear about Louis in his early absurdist days and think about him as a modern day Jackie Gleason.

Didn't know anything about Louis' past before these episodes. Seeing him in a whole new light.

Going back to Part 1, I really got into Louis CK's audition for SNL story. Having that first slot in the audition and SNL guys not properly at the show. And it's crazy to hear Louis give a shout out to David Spade of all people who tried to get the SNL head honchos to catch his set as they just entered the club.

Louis and Marc better stay friends, or I will be very, very sad & disappointed. (Great episode).

Spade is one of the funniest guys with the keenest ear for comedy, too bad he decided in favour of comfort and wealth instead of comedy like any sensible human being would.

I almost lost it when Louis said "I could have used you, man". We were listening to a private conversation at that point. The pure honesty of both was really touching.

Drove all over LA today listening to these. About halfway through the second one right now. Really, really amazing. Great job, Marc.

I have never listened to a conversation so closely in my entire life, well... maybe, but still. I was enthralled for over two hours. Amazing interview.
...and then I found ten dollars.

I think there was a TON of anticipation for this from any and all WTF'ers, and it did not disappoint. I for one will not be surprised when Maron pops up on Louis Season 2.

A girl can dream, right? (I'm a boy, you see, so that was very very funny.)

This was really interesting, although the timeline is a little confusing. I guess this would have been '93, since '93-'94 was when Sarah Silverman and Jay Mohr were hired as writer-performers on the show and Dave Attell was hired as a writer. Janeane Garofalo and Laura Kightlinger weren't hired until the '94-'95 season, although maybe the SNL people had them in mind, having seen them at the previous audition.

Anyway, this was a really fascinating interview, especially the parts about Louis working on the Conan O'Brien show and about how "Pootie Tang" was taken away from him.
