Congrats indeed!
Wouldn't it be great if Kyle's or Anthony Jeselnik's album were nominated for a grammy? I mean, if they're 2 of the best albums according to comedy fans, shouldn't that translate to the grammys? And yet it doesn't.
How out of touch can those awards shows be
Usually grammys pick comics with name recognition, which is unfortunate but at the same time they are picking quality people like Chris Rock or Lewis Black. And I'm pretty sure Patton Oswalt has been nominated in the past. But Kinane is a roadhorse and I know he'll probably put multiple specials and he is on the path he is on will have multiple albums and I'm confident perhaps his sophmore debut WILL get nominated. Once again Congrats Kyle!

Patton was nominated last year. I'm surprised people care about the Grammy nominations, It's not like good artists are getting nominated in the other categories. The Black Eyed Peas have won six. SIX! That should prove how little they matter. If they don't nominate good musical artist how do you expect the comedy noms to be good?
YAY KYLE!!
Awesome. Loved this album soooo much.
This makes me more happy than a series of redundant and awkwardly affectionate emails to Kyle can convey. Fuck yes, universe.
Congratulations Mr. Kinane. You certainly deserve it. Great album!

Thanks, everybody! And indeed congratulations to Matt and Ryan. Thanks, fellas, for letting me do my comedy gags on your imprint.
Really odd that Amazon has two lists - one for CD and one for MP3. I could understand separating DVDs from CDs if there is different/bonus content, but these albums are identical between formats, aren't they? If you are rating the quality of the art, the format shouldn't matter if the content is identical.
Except the CD only list is exactly the same as the MP3 list only without Kyle! (I find that a bit odd, since I am holding the CD in my hand.) If Amazon doesn't stock the title but know it exists, they usually have a placeholder page where you can opt-in to be notified if/when it does arrive. So as a result, everyone slides up a notch, and Aziz Ansari is now in first place.
This has to be a mistake, right? Is this the work of Wikileak terrorists?
Regardless, congrats Kyle and AST on a great album; it's a lock for my end-of-year list as well.
Nice work, Kinane.
Congrats! Well deserved that's for sure, it's a pretty fantastic album.
Also Kyle follows me on twitter so that combined with his fantastic jokey jokes and him being even better live pretty much makes him #1 in my book too.
helping people help themselves with bitterness, anger, and hate.
I actually put together the list for Amazon. For all our best-of lists, we require both the CD and MP3 version of an album to qualify, but we only sell AST Records digitally at the moment. Because I love Kyle's record so much and I wanted to get it some recognition, I actually reached out to Matt to try to get the CDs in stock before we unveiled our lists. When we couldn't get that done in time, I decided to break the rules and just include Kyle's album on the MP3 list and stretch it to 11. There's nothing nefarious going on other than me using my limited powers to help people discover good comedy.
(I've also used these limited powers to, for example, feature PFT's Freak Wharf, Jen Kirkman's Self-Help, Andy Daly's Nine Sweaters, and Jimmy Pardo's Pompous Clown for $5 each.)
Also, I'm speaking for myself and not in any capacity for Amazon. I've lurked here for a while without registering until recently and finally decided it's time to chime in. Apologies.
Allow me to publicly thank Jeff for the support, and also say that the AST catalog will soon be available on Amazon in PHYSICAL FORM! Not sure if this matters to any of you, but we're excited about it.
I think that's awesome! Kinane AND AST on the map!
(I listened to Kyle's CD again this week and it really holds up to repeat listening. It says a lot. I think I've listened to it four times now. I'm gonna go give life a snack.)
many tine tanies
This is really great! Congrats Kyle, and congrats AST Records! Oh, and congrats Amazon!
