Doug Benson's "Load" drops today

Comedy Central Records released Doug Benson's second full-length CD "Unbalanced Load" today. Recorded at the Punch Line in San Francisco exactly one year after Doug's debut album "Professional Humoredian" was taped, "Load" features more "pop culture references, pot humor, and good times."

If you're in Los Angeles and know your way around a stand-by line, come to the UCB Theatre tonight for a double-dose of Doug: he's doing his podcast "I Love Movies" at 7:30, then he's hosting Comedy Death Ray Interruption-style (AST Records is recording this show for a future CD release -- that's right, just like the members of the Wu-Tang Clan, Doug has found a way to be on two record labels at once).

You can download "Unbalanced Load" from iTunes and Amazon MP3 or purchase a physical copy at your local record store that is about to go out of business thanks to iTunes and Amazon MP3.

I really enjoyed the CD. As a big fan I have listened to pretty much all of Doug’s free stuff and I was lucky enough to be at the taping of the CD. None of the premises were especially new to me upon listening to the CD or at the show, but the way he plays around with the jokes and the tags so much always manages to feel totally new and make me laugh a lot.

I really enjoyed the part with the heckler, but was a little disappointed it didn’t include the part where Doug told him he would smoke with him after the show. For some reason that seemed like a heartwarming moment at the time.

Basically, anyone who is reticent to buy the CD because they fear it will be too similar to Professional Humoredian should know that it is definitely worth picking up.

This is two 4/20 shows in a row, are you going to try to record the next Comedy Central CD 4/20/2010 or is that too soon?

UNBALANCED LOAD is only similar to PROFESSIONAL HUMOREDIAN in that they both feature me telling jokes. if not 100% different material, close to it.

and yes, i'll be recording the next CD on 4/20/10, and the next one on 4/20/11, and so on.
