Comedy Death-Ray Film Series Begins Tonight

Starting tonight and continuing each Friday throughout June, a Comedy Death-Ray comedian will feature a movie of his or her choice as part of a Cinefamily series at the Silent Movie Theater (611 N. Fairfax) in Los Angeles. Tonight's presenter Sarah Silverman has selected 1970's "Where's Poppa?" because "I saw it once, and it blew my mind," Silverman says.

Next Friday, Bob Odenkirk will screen Albert Brooks' "Real Life," followed by Patton Oswalt's presentation of "God Told Me To" on June 19. The series will conclude with Tim & Eric's selection of David Byrne's "True Stories" on June 26.

Each screening will include an appearance by the presenting comedian as well as various short films and videos. Tonight, Sarah Silverman is expected to show some "infamous" short films featuring Steve Agee. Tickets are $14. 8:00 pm.

Where's Poppa? is one of my favorites. I wish I knew of more of those hilarious crazy 70s comedies like that one. The In-Laws and Fire Sale (same writer as Wheres Poppa) are the closest I've come.

Just got back from seeing Real Life. It was amazing and the whole night was great. Bob screened a pilot that never aired. (I hope it is ok that I am posting that.) There were hot dogs and free beer. Plus the theater sells cup cakes that are delectable.
