    Goals for 2011:
    Develop a solid hour.
Get hired to write for a show that doesn't get canceled after six episodes.
Perform in five states I've never been to before. (Ideally including Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas)
Stop optioning scripts and start selling them.
Earn above the poverty line ($10,830) from comedy and comedy related endeavors.

Everybody wins. Or, at least, everybody loses equally.

    2011 goals:

    1. Hit more stages/tighten up my act

    2. Keep writing

    3. Work more guest/opening spots

This is basically the same as my 2010 list, huh?

    Are we doing 2011 yet?

Well, first of all I'll say that I don't remember what my goals for 2010 were, but I've no doubt made them my bitch. Working for Earwolf has been the most fulfilling internship of my life, and has made my life so much happier.

    So, goals for this year?
    1. Move to LA, between April and August (ideally).
    2. Flesh out my sketch packet, and finish up the gd spec I've been "working on" for the past few months (4 or 5 pages one week, and then like a page since then).

That's about it. I did all I could in Baton Rouge, and now I'm back to Houston to raise up money for moving to LA. I COULD include "get a writing job" or something like that on my list, but I'd like to be surprised like I was with Earwolf.
Eyes are the losers in the skies.

    Nope!

I'll decide on 2011 goals at some point. I still think these goals were achievable.

    2011 Goals

    1. Do stand up for the first time, and the second and third and fourth etc.
    2. Get a car so I can get to open mics.
    3. Get a job so I can get a car so I can get to open mics.

Also, does anyone know where there are any open mics near Bellflower, CA? I tried looking and cant find anything.

Shouldn't you be looking for a car dealership in that town first...??

Yeah I'm saving up for a car, but until then I'm looking for open mics that are walking distance from my apartment.

If anyone knows anybody in need of comedy writers in the Columbus area would be happy to try. No real experience but will work for free if it's funny. Sketch groups, lampoons, anything!
    Evaluation:
1.Didn't do open mics too much because I had a late class, but not anymore so plan to get out again.
    2. Audition process basically done, so think that's near accomplished.
    3. Writing for my college humor magazine, and we just put out our first issue. SHAMELESS PLUG HERE! http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/TheSundial

    New goals for 2011:
    1. Same as last time, do open mics more often.
    2. At least try to get into sketch performance.
    3. Maybe try improv, even though I'm horrible at it.
    4. Try to move from one linerish stuff to more a cohesive conversational style.

Good going Dylan. I'm going to steal and reboot your goals...

Whoa...whoa...whoa. You're no Canadian, Sean. You leave the Timbits, the toques and the topcis to them.

    pg--Goals? If I was Canadian, they'd probably involve a stick and a puck.--notcanadaatthemoment
We'll just take the fact that this was too long and that you didn't read it...as read.

    1. Open mic once a week, instead of once a month.
    2. Assemble more than 3 minutes worth of material
    3. Attend an open mic that is longer than 4 minutes.
    4. Burn more calories than I consume. (not likely)

Yeah, I want to make everything a story as well, though I think that's not a problem if you do it right. On the other hand I don't know that I have the chops as of yet to do it right.

I've actually sort of had a lingering thought that what I actually want to do isn't exactly stand-up so much as funny memoir-ish one-man show-esque stuff. David Sedaris-esque stuff. I'm not sure what I'm actually doing ends up really being stand-up comedy a lot of the time. But that's sort of another issue for another (as of yet uncreated) thread.
