Woods in the Bear, New Stage/Screenplays Daily
Nice thread! Here's my goals:
1. Continue to find my persona - I need to get the real Phil on stage, and not some character that's a combination of Regan/Barry/Oswalt/O'Neal/Hedberg/Me. I need to continue showing off the unique person that I am.
2. Learn to better edit my jokes - After I perform a joke once, I do a little tweaking, but little real editing. I'm good at removing the bad parts, but terrible at adding new parts.
3. Have more fun on stage - I take it too seriously up there.
I have a three finger Plan two in the junk one in da Trunk Plan for success in the world of comedy.
This year i want to start going to stand up clubs frequently at least 2-3 a week.
I want to gain a viral video a video that is funny and has hundreds of thousands or millions of people loving it.
50,000 Subscribers. On my Youtube page, i currently have 13,900.

1) Work through at least a solid 10.
2) Get paid in something other than drinks.
3) Do less drinking to work up nerve prior to going up.
4) Attain the balls to bomb on purpose.
5) Perform outside of the city I live in.
6) Drop "aspiring" from aspiring comedian.
7) Develop a web presence with more videos and the like.
Comedy is the best defense mechanism.
Within the next month PERFORM MY FIRST OPEN MIC![]()
I was wondering the same thing, but I was more wondering why it would have to be on purpose. You have done nothing but quality shows with very receptive audiences? If you bomb on purpose, I doubt its going to shake the cobwebs because you will know you did it on purpose.
I would say just keep at it and eventually it will happen. I mean, it happens to everybody eventually. As a matter of fact, I would think maybe the confidence of always doing great shows would fool you into thinking you could get away with whatever you want, which will ultimately backfire and cause you to bomb on stage and inevitably thicken your comedy skin. So have fun being paranoid till it does! As Marty Feldman would say, "Use it!"
He probably wants to bomb on Purpose so he won't fear it as much later on in his career.

Seems like trying to bomb on purpose so you get used to it and don't have to fear it is like beating off a whole bunch so you'll get really good at sex.
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
This is completely wrong for many reasons. Chiefly because masturbation has a pleasant outcome. I've bombed, I've bombed hard. Check my posts, I once threatened an audience with physical violence. I want to condition myself to stay confident and not freak out so hard when shit goes all pear shaped. If I can have faith in my material and not bail out like a pussy, I feel it would make me a stronger performer.
Comedy is the best defense mechanism.
I've been doing just open mics these past few months and have done my first bringer show this quarter to test out all my new jokes. I now have a new 5 mins set worth of jokes i'm very happy about and 4 minutes that are ehhh. 7 months left to get another 5 minutes.
My goals are to sell a lot more of my writing. I've been slacking in that department, and that's why things haven't been that good. Least I've got a weekly column now, so that's some cash to work with. I'm positive about the future.
1) Write Material
2) Start doing open mikes
