    Unusual Comics

I'd like to further educate myself (with the help of you lot) about comedians living or dead, preferably living and working now that are doing very unique stuff outside the box...standup as an art form, playing with its limits:

i'm thinking of zach g's bait-and-switch routines, andy kaufman's pranks on stage, neil hamburger's anti-jokes, levi macdougal's surrealism.

i'm open for anything really along those lines.

anyone got something to throw at me to devour?

Reggie Watts stand-up is pretty crazy and fun and bizarre.

    keep the suggestions coming please!

absorbing these folk and lovin' it.

keep in mind, anything that seems obvious to you probably isn't to me
since i haven't been in the states since 94,
so i've been quite culturally locked off for awhile.

    any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Jon Benjamin (alone or with anyone he performs with). This only really refers to live performance, that I know of.

I don't know how well this translates to a youtube video, but I do know that they broke the mold with this guy.

I've seen him perform hundreds of times and never get sick of watching him. He's a huge sweetheart, and his approach to stand up is singular.

    Detroit's Jeff Ford:

Mirman's all over the wall but this video cements his unusual-ness in my mind.

hannibal buress seems to have a touch of el weirdo.
not extreme, but he's got some good offbeat material.

    pretty fantastic!

P-dub, thank you for sharing Jeff Ford. That was weird and awesome. He isn't famous, but I don't know what to make of Brent Smalley. Very weird dude.

Will Franken pushes the limits off the edge sometimes, and as far as dead comedians go, I would consider Lord Buckley to be astonishingly ahead of his time. Find his Train routine. Oh wait, I just did it for you:

I'd like to submit Troy Baxley to this list of must see unusual comics

    Re: Unusual Comics

Jon Glaser and Jon Benjamin have a bit called The Fogeddabuddies that is easily found on Youtube (but, really, you should just buy the Invite Them Up set that it's on). It's one the most bizarre, most hilarious things I've ever seen in my life. Other than that, most of the ones I'd suggest have already been mentioned. Though Eugene Mirman's surrealness
is often understated and shouldn't be overlooked.

Oh, and Slovin & Allen too. Both as a pair and individually.

The first joke in this video has one of my favorite deliveries of all-time:

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lc31POY2gbQ&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lc31POY2gbQ&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

uhhhhh, it's not working for some reason. Go here:

    Re: Unusual Comics

Todd Glass has this joke thing where he just says something like, "I went to the gas station and I went to pay for my gas and I didn't know the pump number so I looked out and said 'it's on the other side of pump 3' and she said 'that would be pump 4'"

"Yeah well, it could have been 2 ya cunt."
