my friend is running a comedy contest in front of real audience-type people, at a real comedy club. it's kind of a throw back to old school comedy contests but a real contest (for real cash nonetheless) if you're interested see my friend Chard Hogan's email address at the bottom.

here's some detail, it's the first annual Ventura Harbor Comedy Contest hosted and run by the legendary comic Chard Hogan!

The contest starts in June, but the open try outs for spots are the whole month of May, every sunday night 7pm - 9pm at the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club

To qualify, just perform once in May!

okay this contest is finally organized. to get the official rules please send an email to the same address as above

The basics are:

1.) Auditions are on Sundays and need to be booked in advance. (send an email to the address above for booking)
2.) The competition is three nights long over three weeks of Sundays.
3.) Everyone has to plan to be available all three nights provided they keep moving up etc.
But you have to be willing to commit to all three
weeks or it doesn't really work.
3.) Judging categories are in the rules.
4.)First week - June 28th - Sunday - 5 minutes - 15 comics
5.)Second week - July 5th - Sunday - 8 to 10 minutes - 10 comics
6.)Third week - July 12th - Sunday - 10 to 12 minutes - 5 comics

First Place - $200.00, 2 paid booking with the owners, plus extras
Second Place - $100.00, plus extras
Third through Fifth Place - $50.00, plus extras
