    Screenwriting Idea Generation

    hello good people of AST.

I am currently taking a media writing class and as a final project we must submit a 30 minute screenplay. I feel that this is a great push for me to get into the world of comedy writing for television. Ideally at the end of this I would have scripted a pilot for a television episode.

The only problem is- I have no idea what to write.

If anyone could offer advice on idea generation and story structure as pertaining to screenwriting, it'd be much obliged.

Not to be rude, if you can't come up with an original idea why would you like to be a television writer? The format should be like they have taught you in class, just in a smaller scale. A great resource for formatting can be found here: http://www.scriptwritersnetwork.org/...-script-format
You might also want to check out a podcast called On The Page. Another great recourse.

On another note, does anyone plan on applying for summer writing fellowships or programs this year? Or any alumni from those?
