Hey everyone,
I’ve been doing stand up for about two years now, and I’m considering a move to New York from Toronto. I’ve just got a few questions about the process for anyone currently doing comedy there.
How exactly does the audition process work for the clubs? Most of the stuff I’ve read about New York comedy is from years ago. Do they still have audition nights where you perform to get regular spots? And can you pass off a single audition, or is it a long process? In Toronto, for the only major comedy club, you basically have to perform on their amateur night for years before you can get any real spots.
Ideally, I'd like to take a trip down to NYC in a few months and perform at an audition night and then if it goes well I'd plan a move. Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice/information.
Matt
