i dunno how recently this happened, but if you don't have plans for saturday, you can get discounted Patton tickets from ticketmaster with the promo code 'funny'. it puts them at $15, and with service charge its like $22.
PLUS Kyle Kinane is opening!

Just added to the show -- Brent Weinbach.
Both Cross and I are close to filling our respective rooms. We were both worried about being in S.F. the same night, but then we realized if there's one city that could support the both of us -- plus Patrice O'Neal -- it's San Francisco. And there you go.
I've got a lot of new material, as does Cross, naturally. I hope everyone sees the show they want. Cross and I have a little surprise planned for both our audiences.
I'm Trial.
"(inaudible) I've seen, basically, all of those at this point."
(laughter)
"Yes, but have you ever seen Threen Wolf?"

I sold 2/3rds of the Masonic. Cross has a near sell-out at The Warfield. And both of Patrice's Punchline shows are sold out. San Francisco fuckin' rules.
Who's gonna recap this bitch?
Bob LaRitchie, Brian's Friend
Patton.
i'll try? sorta.
I forget how amazing it is that we get to see Brent Weinbach so often up here, and it seems like he's always got something new that he's working on out. Last night was no different as he came out in a completely new character in front of a room of people who very likely did not know him. At first it seemed like he was sabotaging himself or testing the audience, but it had a tremendous payoff. I really can't recap the rest because I think it's worth just catching him live and seeing whatever he's doing at the moment. But I feel like the only bit he did that I have seen before was 'The Russian Alphabet.'
Kyle Kinane was up next and told a lot of great stories and jokes. Again, I don't want to burn any material, and I'm certain that a good portion of it will end up on his album when it comes out, but he was able to get the entire Nob Hill Masonic to go completely silent and hang on every word of his closing story. There was an extended chunk on the subtle racism of Trader Joe's that I had only heard reference to previously, and was great to see live. I feel like I'm not doing this justice, but again both Brent and Kyle came out with complete confidence in front of a room they were likely unknown to, and a big part of that is Patton's audience's willingness to trust that the people he brings along with him are going to be great.
Patton really had to come out with everything after Kyle's set because it was that good. He opened with a lot of new stuff, mostly about how exhausting parenting is, but with an angle Patton could only bring to it. He even acknowledged that this was not the set or material he ever thought he'd be doing when he was 20. Accidentally illustrating his tiredness, Patton started speaking into his microphone, and while realizing that mistake, forgot what was in which hand and lifted the microphone to his mouth to drink from. The middle half hour was material from 'My Weakness is Strong,' including 'Fat,' 'Treadmill,' 'The Sad Boy,' 'Rats,' 'Orgy,' and 'Sky Cake.' Halfway through the set, Patton took a phone call from David Cross live from the Warfield Theatre. Unfortunately, the sound was a bit muffled on this at the Nob Hill end, but the phone call started with David mentioning that the pizza had just arrived for the audience and everyone was drinking champagne. Patton said he felt bad because he used his entire pizza budget to bring the White Stripes to perform at his show. Patton then did some new stuff, including material on his grandparents and extended family, some off the cuff political bits after someone yelled out 'LIAR!', a brand-new KFC follow-up, his 'Obama' bit from 'My Weakness is Strong,' and closed with 'The Magician.' For the encore, Patton did his analysis of the holiday song 'Christmas Shoes' and it was amazing.
All in all, a really fun show, a really great crowd, a lot of looseness and interaction from Patton and it seemed like all 3 comics had a lot of fun and excelled in front of a crowd that was there to see them and willing to go along with them.
On a side note, after the show, Andrea Runge and myself along with some friends met up with other friends, including Bucky Sinister, and Meen Bellpeppers. Bucky and 2 of our other friends had gone to David Cross, and Meen went to Patrice O'Neal. I was glad to hear that all the show's last night were really good (I heard Nick Kroll opened for Cross and did really well) and out of all of us, nobody seemed to regret their choice of show that night.
(Sorry for the smaller recaps on Brent and Kyle, I'd rather not spoil any material that may be out on or coming out on CD's, and I really think you should go see them when you can. Still though, last night was a can't-miss kind of show)

wait... was there something happening on saturday?
"This is not the Beach Boys. It can't be. Why? No beach songs! I thought it was some kind of joke. All 'Pet Sounds' offers is the opportunity to hear Brian Wilson whine for forty minutes, backed by elevator music. There's barely any Mike Love on the album at all."
Did Meen win free tickets or something?
i believe "went to" is code for "worked the door at," but i can't be bothered to check urban dictionary.
