I just saw this and feel like posting a non-spoilerish review.
Moshe Kasher: This was my first experience with Moshe, and I assume he brought his big guns out for this show. He fucking rocked it. It seemed like he only really did a couple long bits, but they were pretty much all great, and the crowd really enjoyed it. I really really look forward to seeing him again.
Laura Kightlinger: I think I was one of only about 8 people in the audience to enjoy the majority of her set. She came out really flat/unenergetic, and did what I (again) assume was very new material (she kept checking a notebook). I thought she was funny, shouldn’t be judged based solely on this set, and didn’t win very many new fans at 10pm tonight.
Louis CK: By contrast, Louis came out and breathed heavily into the mic and got a big laugh. This was one of the coolest things I have seen live. I believe the show was completely sold out without any walk-ups so everyone was onboard with everything he did from the intro. I didn’t check my watch before the show started, but I am pretty sure he did about 80 minutes. I am still going to consider this an opening act/feature for Todd Barry in October, since I am super super excited for that show now, but everyone outside San Francisco who reads this will definitely not be disappointed when they catch this tour. I told the person I went with that Louis is basically one of the best in the business, and she wasn’t disappointed.
