Some good shows to check out would be The Punchline on Sunday night - the local comedy night. $8 to get in and a nice cross-section of Bay Area talent.
Tuesday nights are great for Annie's Social Club in the SoMa area, 5th and Folsom - probably one of the best open mikes in the area. That's run by sfstandup.com and while not everybody there is an AST'er, there's plenty of good comics (and a few awesome crazies) to keep you interested. No cover charge and cheap drinks.
And you can't go wrong with "Something People Like" at the Purple Onion on Wednesdays, 8 p.m. $10 to get in, no drink minimums and always stacked with good, talented people.
