Hey aspecialthing forum,
This is Lance Bangs, the filmmaker. I'm curating a benefit event in Portland at the venue Holocene on the evening of Thursday February 3rd. I'm assembling the best of what I admire in contemporary artwork, Super 8mm films, comedians, music, storytelling, and conceptual presentations from across the US and flying them in for one special evening. Proceeds are going to the non-profit Hollywood Theater, and we need you to buy tickets and come out and experience it all.
I'm expecting people from the art, music, and film communities to check out the other aspects of the event, but I want to make sure the comedy fans know this is happening and come see this rare and remarkable lineup. These 4 guys are a major part of what I love seeing at the UCB Theaters in Los Angeles and New York City, and you need to come check this out in person. Drive down from Seattle, bus in from Eugene, hitchhike from Olympia, but don't blow your chance.
4 of my favorite innovative comedians from Los Angeles:
Paul Scheer (The League, Human Giant, 30 Rock)

More details about participants below:
Paul Scheer plays Andre on the FX Show "The League", and co-created and starred in MTV's "Human Giant" with Aziz Ansari and Rob Hubel. He also re-occurs on NBC’s “30 Rock”, as Donny, the Head Page and on the HBO series, “Funny or Die Presents”, in the short films Designated Driver and Death Hunt both of which he co-wrote and starred in. Last year, Scheer had quite a few memorable guest-starring roles on such great shows as “Parks and Recreation” in which he played a charity prankster, "Party Down" a coked up sci-fi screenwriter, “Children’s Hospital” a delinquent clown, and on “The Sarah Silverman Program” as a dim witted producer. You can also see Paul telling the Knock-Knock Joke of the Day alongside Jack Mcbrayer on the wildly popular kid’s series “Yo Gabba Gabba."
Brett Gelman is an actor and comedian who lives in Los Angeles. You can see him in such films as The Other Guys, and the upcoming film 30 Minutes or Less. Brett plays Chris Elliott's sidekick in Eagleheart on Adult Swim, and has also appeared on HBO's Funny Or Die Presents, and the upcoming seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Happy Endings. Brett has been a member of The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre for over 10 years, and continues to perform there.
