Let it be known that I hate all of you.
Love,
Rick
I wish I could have hung out with everyone more, like always, I left feeling like I didn't really talk to anyone. It's such a constant flurry of awesomeness that it's hard to find the time to actually talk to someone.
"I was all the Bonzai trees in the Karate Kid"
Here's my half-assed recap:
Thursday:
Dead tired.
AST House is beautiful.
Only see Pop & Politics then I sleep. But from that, I know I have to see Auggie Smith again.
Friday:
Janet Varney is so stinking cute and charming in person.
Shane Torres impresses. My first new-to-me surprise.
Eagles Lodge is a great venue.
The Persona show is a highlight: all the performers are fantastic - the hosts do a great job - I bolt as soon as Andy Dick takes the stage...
...and I make it over to the Bagdad just in time to see Graham Elwood go up at 1.30. It was one of those magical, delirious shows - like two(?) years ago in the same space when Tig performed on a trash-strewn stage to 25 sleepy/sleeping people.
Saturday:
THE AST HOUSE WATER PARTY!
Sam and I help Valorie down THE ANDREA RUNGE EXPERIENCE (a slip-n-slide)
And our one performer attendee (Lance Bangs) and his son (blacked out to protect privacy) play a little balloon toss. (I didn't know who they were until later).
Later, everyone talks about how much more energy they have this day - turns out exercise is good for you!
I give Andy Dick another shot... meh, not worth it. I leave for Bar of the Gods.
I love Bar of the Gods: I really enjoy DJ Dougg Pound and I see Graham Elwood a second time.
Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen: a fine show that features my highlight for the whole weekend, Sappity Tappity.
I go over to the Tanker to wait for Ron Lynch and Auggie Smith to go up at the Tabor. Hannibal, and Elwood are brilliant. Weinbach, Aparna Nancherla, and Brandon Wardell are all great, too.
I scoot back over to the Tabor... Auggie Smith is brilliant. I want to see him do a headline set someday.
Sunday:
Heather and I stay away from the strip club brunch as my sister visits. We go to Petite Provance and I love it!
Iron Comic: an almost perfect show. No disrespect to Kyle and Doug, but Hannibal was robbed of his deserved win.
Then over to the Eagles Lodge where we close out the night. I see Graham Elwood again, meaning I saw him do every set he performed during the festival.
I really didn't overdo it with the drinking on this trip, except for tonight, which leads to inviting Hannibal into the group picture, accosting Doug Benson on the street, and cajoling high-fives from Nick Thune, Brett Gelman, and Lance Bangs.
I also talk to Mr. Bangs about film stuff he did back down south and I think I ramble incoherently. I need to contact him and reintroduce myself.
In conclusion:
Renting a house with ASTers was the best idea I ever had.
I had such a good time, I get over my heartbreak of Sean Cullen disappearing from the lineup.
I missed too many comics and too many shows. There's just so much to do.
Andy Wood is a hard working, brilliant man.
I love you all.

I didn't get home till 3am this morning so excuse my tardiness in saying everyone and everything about this weekend was the best at being awesome!!...and Cory, you will never be anyone in this life besides my boyfriend.
BTW, this weekend I was ranking everyone based on their phones. The following people are cool with me:
DJ Sam
America's Team
Ameen
Swiss Miss
Congolia and wife
Everyone else can suck a dick
Can...but won't.
We'll just take the fact that this was too long and that you didn't read it...as read.

Another awesome Bridgetown weekend! I was pretty much hopping around from theater to theater seeing as much as I could see. Some highlights for me were James Adomian and Ron Lynch at Persona!, Ron Funches, Brent Weinbach at the Tanker, the drunk guy in the front row puking into his own cup at the 9pm Hawthorne Main Stage show on Thursday, Iron Comic and the whole Eagles Lodge show was a great way to end out the festival. It was cool to finally meet some of you ASTers and I'll have to meet all the others that come next year. Thanks to Andy Wood for putting on another great festival and I'm already looking forward to next year!
Look for that pic on the cover of next month's 'Bear-ly Legal'.
Now then, time to go commit suicide. BYE!!
Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
