Thread: Second City stuff

    Second City stuff

    Why not?

I'm in the SC writing program right now and my class is having auditions on December 14th @ noon-3 for our production. It's open to people that are current or former training center students. It's going to be fucking hilarious.

Also talk about other stuff here if you feel like it.

Let's talk about pepperoni balls and how they only exist in Erie, PA.

But also, when would the shows run?

I don't know just yet, it should open around the first weekend of March.

    Re: Second City stuff

I'm actually taking an improv class at SC while i'm in town, for shits and giggles. I would love to audition, I've already asked my teacher about it, but I head back to NY in Feb. If you know of anyone casting for a short they want to film, or something coming up sooner, I would love to audition.

Also, if you want to suggest this to your teacher, I'm down to come in and read for one of the classes. I took play writing in college and hated when other class members read my stuff. When I was able to bring in outside, solid actors to read, not writers, my stuff came alive... Just a thought I'm a lady btw, if that helps.
I'm a comedy nerd with boobs. Not man boobs. Real live woman boobies!

Did someone mention pepperoni balls? Whatever the questions, the answer is "Yes, they will complete you."

I've been through the program. In intro class is really really basic and pretty stupid, but once you get into the regular classes, it's better. The best part is that it encourages you to write a sketch every week.

Putting the show on at the end is pretty cool. We're in rehearsals now for our show (which will play Friday nights in January).

I've been writing jokes and ideas down for about three years now but I lack the discipline to turn them into anything so I'm looking forward to meeting like minded people and having a deadline

Plus putting on a show might convince my folks that all my crazy ideas and jokes could turn into something they could understand

    Thanks for your response

    Re: Second City stuff

no audience for the audition its just going to be in a small room, but the show opens in March. But there are some good cheap level 5 shows playing on the weekends you should check out.

And you can call me Joe, We met earlier this week but I didn't realize you were on AST, I saw you at the Globe and Wise Fools. I was the guy that passed you a note with a picture of a monster with a dick riding a skate board.

This is the way that all AST folk in Chicago should greet each other.

So my parents got me the Writing class for xmas, thursdays 7-10, i am very grateful and excited

the website says there is an orientation for new students on January 4th. Is this more for improv and acting students as a opposed to writing students? Just curious. I'd like to go regardless.

Thanks, Joe. That note was great. I think it said, "Take it, its for you."

I'm about to start classes in chicago and I heard that Io was a better place to start. Is there any truth to this? And could someone recommend some teachers?

Oh, hey guys. Weird seeing this old thread again, huh?
So, there's this funny sketch show at Donny's Skybox, Fridays @ 10:30 and, well... I perform comedic acting in it!
It's called Elephant Gun, and, ummm, I don't know... maybe you'd like to come see it?
    Okay, see ya around!
