Thread: DOUBLE DOOR OPEN MIC

    DOUBLE DOOR OPEN MIC

I'm trying to get the word out to musicians and comedy fans about the

    Double Door Musicians Open Mic
    featuring the comedy of:

    Kevin Lee
    Bob Palos
    Mike Sheehan
    CJ Toledano
    Chris Condren
    Mo Welch
    Host Marty DeRosa

Double Door's open mic night is open to musicians of all styles. The sign up starts promptly at 7:30p and the first act will start at 8pm. Double Door is a 21+ venue so all musicians and patrons must be 21 or older to enter. The space is limited so drum kits are not permissible for any participant. If you are planning to play make sure you bring all musical equipment needed to perform. The Dirtroom is located down stairs in the Double Door, so all equipment will need to be easily carried downstairs. Please email Kevin Lee at kemlee@gmail.com with questions or to sign up prior to 7:30pm on Sept. 8th.

The Double Door is located at 1572 N. Milwaukee
Just south of the Damen Blue Line Stop

I know Bob talked about booking comics for the initial run, but will the stage ever be open to comedians in addition to the musician?

Re: Open Mic at the Double Door

I approached the Double Door people hoping to do a strictly comedic open mic in the basement, but they insisted it be musical(I couldnt really disagree with them). With all the comedians I know, if it were an anything-goes-open-mic the thing would never end. So, I decided to book the comics, ahead of time and leave the open mic for the musicians. I'm gonna be promoting this show SO HARD because if it's a success, they'll let me do it every week.

Also who are you Big Guy?

So my goal in Chicago is to one day get booked for this room. Mostly because I am a huge High Fidelity fan.

I'm the biggest High Fidelity fan. Coincidentally, I'm performing here on September 8th. Don't get see that musical at Piper's Alley. I'll be doing a spin-off, one-man play called , "I, Raymond" in honor of the venue.

I caught them shoplifting at Championship Vinyl. Jack Black was there. So was Iben Hjejle.

so much of this thread makes me happy. could somebody really close out the show by doing a version of "let's get it on..." that is, undeniably, better than Marvin Gaye's?

    Re: DOUBLE DOOR OPEN MIC

No. I still have so much to do here that I feel I have to deny myself any sort of pleasure.

My hope is that I can make it next Sunday (and maybe even go up!).
