I've never been to Schuba's before and I can't find any information on the website, is it going on tonight? and if yes, when is a good time to get there if you are only a spectator? thanks

Yes, it's on pretty much every Sunday. It's pretty safe to assume. I'd get there 9ish to watch.
I think I've posted it before, but here it is again. My personal list of Chicago open mics.
Rebel and McDunna's are no more, I'm sad to report and I run the Tonic Room open mic on Thursday's and it starts at 8 with a 7:30 sign up.
know that the lakeshores doin an open mic sometime this month look on their website for a date but it's free and I think no cover charge
CHICAGO COMICS!
http://iacomedyfest.wordpress.com/20...rday-oct-16th/
This is a great chance to network and get to know comedians in other areas, hopefully building and strengthening the infrastructure of Midwest comedy. This gives comics opportunities to increase their workloads and rub elbows with the more influential comics from around the Heartland. Wanna tour and expand your venues list? This is a great way to start!
i'd like to thank John Roy for opening for me last night at Coles and I'd like to thank myself for opening up for JayRunner, we were all awesome and so forth...
Hey guys,
I'm in town for a few days looking at apartments for when I MOVE TO CHICAGO in May.
What Wednesday mics are still going on? Coles? Edge? etc?

Coles tonight, 8:30 sign up(usually earlier) and Bacinos in Lincoln Park. I dont have the details on Bacinos but some one at Coles will.
Cole's was excellent last night! I had a lot of fun, there are a bunch of funny folks in this town.

Well you didn't steer me wrong with the lovely Derek Smith so I'll watch out for him.
If you get the chance tell him to check out MY OPEN MIC THIS COMING TUESDAY! Yes, held at beautiful Weed's Tavern at the corner of Weed St and Dayton, just south of the North Clybourn red line stop! Sign up begins at 9:00 with the show starting at 9:30.
Comics: feel free to come late and still receive life verifying stage time as you test out brand new material or perfect soon to be signature bits. Audience: I'm in charge of getting one. Beer: there's plenty there and it's really cheap.
THIS TUESDAY, MAY 11th at 9:30, AT WEED'S TAVERN: WEED'S OPEN MIC COMEDY!

The open mic was terrific, great audience and some killer sets from several comics. Brad Chad Porter did a fantastic job and Derek Smith closed out the show in awesome fashion.
The mic will be going on again this Tuesday, sign up at 9 and show at 9:30. Hope to see you out there.
Figured I'd plug the Tonic Room. It's every tuesday at 7pm. Here's what you can do after your set at the tonic, since it's so early:
Go to the 7-10 Lounge Hosted by Bill Cruz.
Go to Weeds Hosted by Jeff Steinbrunner.
Go to Cagney's for Bootleg Comedy.
Go to Dan Telfer's CD release thing @ Chicago Underground Comedy.
There's really no reason not to come here and work on your bits before you go elsewhere to work on your bits.
Cheers.

Hey guys, I've been doing sketch in Chicago for a few years and I'm looking to get into stand-up. Does anybody have any advice as far as what open mics are the best, and more specifically if any of them are more friendly to really shitty new guys like me? Or are there any rooms that ASTers frequent the most? It'd be great to find a scene of funny people to start out in.
Thanks
Davidd--
The Chicago stand up scene is pretty friendly...I have preferences for which Mics I like, but I've never had an awful experience anywhere. If you see this post, tonight is a good night to get into comedy. Why? There are 3 very friendly open mics that you can hit back to back and immediately start working out your bits. They are:
Tonic Room in Lincoln Park- 6:30pm sign, 7pm start (don't worry about coming late, I'll get you on!)
7-10 Lounge in Lincoln Park (walkable from the Tonic Room!)- 8pm sign up bucket, 8:30pm random draw, 8:45ish start time. Hosted by the wonderfully supportive Bill Cruz!
Then Weeds Open Mic! Hosted by Jeff Steinbrunner in Lincoln Park- 9:30pm ish Sign Up 10pm start (you can come really late to this one).
Hope to see you out there Davidd.
Cheers.

Hey thanks a lot, Ryan. That all sounds really good. I don't think I'll be able to make it out tonight, but probably next week. I'm excited to come out.
Thanks again
