i hung out with bob, david, louis ck, robert smigel, and dino on thursday night for a few hours after the show. Since I didn't see their show due to both falling on Shabbas, it made up for it. Hung out in the alley tonight since I had nothing for Bob and David to sign on Thursday night.

I saw Bob and David last night at the Just for Laughs festival. It was a lot of fun, everyone seemed to be in good spirits. It started with Bob and David crossing paths on stage; both holding boxes. David couldn't quite place where he knew Bob from. They talked about what they've been up to and discovered they both were performing a one man show. They each thought their own show was better than the others'. After some argument they decide to put together a panel of judges to officially decide who has the better show. A one man show off. Bob goes up first and very dramatically drops to his knees crying "Mother!" It was a personal journey which included lipstick and fears of Vietnam. After that David takes the stage, puts on a blues brothers style hat and glasses, and rips into an over the top dance number to the song "Sweet Home Chicago." The local judges immediately start dancing along in their seats. Very funny.

Later David still has trouble remembering who Bob is. They reminisced about a game show they were on together called "Cash or Check." Bob won a million dollars, but he must decide if he's going to take it by CASH OR CHECK. Each time David said "Cash or Check" there was a ridiculously dramatic keyboard part (which might have been played live, it seemed different each time). Funny stuff. Bob used one of his life angels to call what turned out to be himself. On his outgoing message he left the number of someone to call in case he needed help on the game show, but in doing so he used up his phone angel.

After that bit Bob mentions that he sold the "Bob and David" name to a comedy club express outlet. Behind them was a small sign for the business with glittery letters. They used that to segue into the "and friends" portion of the show. Nick Thune took the stage, guitar in hand. This was my first time seeing him live. He's very funny.

Later in the evening Team Submarine did a bit about market research for their college tour. They've got good chemistry. I'd like to see more.

Senator Tankerbell made an appearance for a torture hearing. They showed a picture from "abu grawby" and then transitioned into his own research pictures which included him with a dominatrix. There was also a skit about a Chicago tour guide who keeps slipping in sexual references. There was a skit about a L.G.B.T.B.B.Q. barbeque. Bob read a letter from his recently deceased cousin, Jo Jo, who had serious regrets about getting the light ice cream all those years. They also did a skit about a family getting the opportunity to confront their spouse/father's killer. I believe this was the same skit that they did for the Hooray for America tour. Towards the end, Bob and David met again and did revised versions of their one man shows. They finished with a big closing song which had a secret message from Satan.

Bob and David are obviously still great together. They had the crowd rolling. They both seemed to be having a lot of fun. Hopefully they'll have the chance to get another show on the air sooner than later.
