What to do on Wednesday Night? (8/20)

Hey all! Hope it's cool I post a boring question like this here, but - I'm arriving in NYC Tuesday night on business, I'm new to the club scene and have just recently gotten serious about comedy.

...got any recommendations for Wednesday night? I checked most of the popular clubs' sites and didn't find anyone I'm too interested in.

    Thanks everybody!

It happens that Wednesday night is pretty good at the UCB Theater, in Chelsea. 8pm show is "2 Square" and 9:30 show is "I Eat Pandas." The first is Peter Grosz and John Lutz doing improv, the second is they improv a musical out of whole cloth.

If you don't find something else, it's a helluva second option!

Joe DeRosa is doing a set at Comix on Wednesday night with some other peeps. Forgot who. He is a great comic. Highly recommend... I also like I Eat Pandas, so whatever floats yer boat....

I Eat Pandas is a pretty fantastic group.

Immediately following that show at the UCB this Wednesday is "School Night," a free show starting at 11pm. Todd Barry is scheduled to perform and there's supposedly some huge special guest that can't be announced. For FREE!!

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations, gals and guys!

...do I need reservations for any of these?

"Need" might be a little strong, but it can't hurt, and it's free to reserve (pay at the box office). Do it for each show from the UCBT calendar page. Name/email/confirm/etc.

Also, "2 Square" can be pretty sublime too. Lutz and Grosz are very good.

Is that gonna get filled up pretty quickly? I noticed they don't take reservations online. Should I get there early?

If you want a good seat, I would get there early just to be safe. I plan on getting there around 10:15pm or so.

Bummer, indeed. Todd Barry was great, though. Sean Conroy and Donald Glover also very funny.
