Plus a few special guests...
Including a 'mind melting' performance from what might be my mom, or something else...As well as, some great 'all ghoul' commentary stories and rarely seen audience favorite musical number from your favorite keeper for the comedy crypt....SETH HERZOG.
Muaahh (evil laugh), why it's Halloween time again....Yes, I'm pretty sure your favorite time of year..I know its mine. When the candy corn piles are as high as the shorts on the slutty 'Jo the plumber' outfit you're making. When we can put on something outside ourselves to be something inside ourselves. I love making costumes, in my youth I was once "Capt Pajamas" (just piled on layers of PJs) and once a "Garbage Can" (who doesn't wonder what the secret life of a garbage can is?), although my favorite was a homemade "Darth Vader" outfit that seemed to be adopted from a gypsy costume with a spray painted gallon milk jug cut up to be a helmet. It was all about the effort. And the Halloween show is going to be all about the freaky, the scary, and the downright absurd.
Now here are 3 guys who look will be dressed up as awesome comedians (or something else entirely):
EUGENE MIRMAN: Back to the Sweet stage after a while, is one of the princes of downtown NY comedy, fresh off his own huge self titled comedy festival in Brooklyn, this regular from HBO's "Flight of the Conchords", is now gearing up to record his 3rd album. With a Comedy Central half hour special under his belt, as well as a recent 236.com tour "Stand upp-ity", this prolific performer also has a book coming out soon. Come see him now and see what the New York Times was so excited about!
BOBBY TISDALE: Also back for another Halloween show is the longtime beloved host of downtown NY stalwart show "Invite Them Up". Known for pioneering some of the silliest humor ever heard below 14th st. He's also no stranger to the big screen having had memorable turns in such films as, the Oscar nominated "Junebug", "Don't Mess with the Zohan", and "The Baxter" as well as the small screen in HBO's "Hysterical Blindness", "Stella" and the upcoming "Demetri Martin. Person". You never know what Bobby's going to do or say. I just Know I'll love it!
CRAIG BALDO: And slithering on my right this week, coming up to the lab, to see what's on the slab, is this longtime Sweet favorite, who is often seen to my right as my sidekick/dj. Also, a very well respected comedian in his own right, he was recently tapped to do stand up on Conan. He's also a vet of performing in Vegas and does colleges every weekend. You might know him as a constant commentator for Vh-1, Bravo, E!, etc..He'll be in a very specific costume, and I'll give out a prize if you can tell me who he is, without being told.
The Halloween show is always one of the best shows of the year! There's outrageous costumes, sketches, stories, a big dance from me..etc. I encourage you to come in costume too (it's always more fun if you do..I may even have you do a bit in it.) If you haven't come to Sweet, and always wanted to this is a good first show to see. Come down and get yourself psyched up for what I know is your favorite holiday and do it down at Sweet where the ghouls come to meet.
Also, its the last show before the big election night extravaganza next week! Where we will be showing the returns on the big screen, after a short show, and then when victory is called...dancing all night. So look forward to that too..
Carving backwards 'B's in pumpkins and faces everywhere,
Seth Herzog
