Yes, my friend, scream it from the rooftops, text your friends, or forward this message...SWEET IS BACK!! After a 5 weeks of taking a well-deserved and much need break. The Sweet show is finally back in the saddle and ready to roll. I only wish there was something to talk about. Oh wait, there totally is...everything! This race just got SO good. I always knew that 'teen pregnancy' should be officially part of the 'family values' platform. Hey, having jocks pressure teenage girls into unprotected sex is one of the great, long-held American traditions that built this great country. Cause that what 'family values' is all about, children having children to create.... bigger families, right?? Now don't get me started on Sarah Palin's downy kid 'Trig'. Which may or may not be Bristol's as well. I'd have to say my favorite part of watching the RNC, was the sea of old, white folks, still trying to get themselves excited, when clearly just wanted to go take some Boniva and have a nap. And all the talk from John McCain about 'shaking up' and changing Washington, and then the crowd cheers, but they are the people he's talking about changing!! "Yeah, we suck! We don't know what we're doing!"
Its all too much for me, and I love all of it. And I hope to see you back at Sweet, or maybe for the first time this week.

Now here are 5 guys who have their own promise rings to G*d, that they will always be 'awesome':
MARC MARON: I'm more than excited to finally have on the Sweet stage for the first time, one of the major pioneers of downtown NY comedy. He's been called everything from "Heady" to "Neurotic" to "Cerebral" to "Crazy". One of the orginal hosts of Comedy Central (back when they had 'hosts'), and the original and longtime morning radioman on "Air America". He's had, not only Comedy Central's specials, but an HBO hour long special as well. Known almost more for his compelling and specific point of view, then his comedy, he just headlined the nation "Stand Uppity" tour. I can't wait to see what comes out his mouth about the country and us.
TED ALEXANDRO: Back again is a NY comedy stalwart, one of the hardest working performers in the city, but with the most laid back delivery you'll ever hear (he's not afraid of the long pause). He's taped, not one, but two Comedy Central half hours, and is also a multiple veteran of every late night talk show (Letterman, Conan, Kimmel, Ferguson, etc..) as well as one of the freakiest characters on HBO's "OZ". Come and enjoy some the funniest and chillest funnymen.
"THE BIRDMAN": As part of Sweet's commitment to bring you the 'best from around the world', I'm very pleased to bring you one of Australia's most celebrated and sought after performers. In NY this week for the 'NY Clown Festival', this vaudevillian humorist, has been called 'a stirring combination of surreal circus sideshow and charismatic comedy'. His act is incredibly original, like Houdini wrapped in Chaplin, with an injection of Dada. I really don't know what exactly to expect but it might include, object balancing, knife throwing, plastic bag juggling, and escapology (Yes! Escapology!!).
DONALD GLOVER: Back again, after a crowd rousing performance at the Sweet Valentine's show earlier this year, where he went on a fake date with my mom...that went too well. This '30 Rock' staff writer, and prolific performer, is mostly known as a member of the sketch group and Youtube sensation: "Derrick". There were many net rumors about him potentially joining SNL this season, after he tried out his audition at material at Sweet, but alas hat did not work out..yet. But come see what rumors he will start after this show's performance.
CRAIG BALDO: And sitting to my right this week, cutting to the chase, while energizing the base, is one Sweet's favorite performer/djs. A longtime downtown NY comedy veteran, he's done stand up on Conan (as well as many sketches on there), and has appeared on Comedy Central's 'Premium Blend' and commentating on VH-1, E!, and Bravo. Currently, he's also my co-host for KidRockers (our afternoon kids rock show we host). He's also well known as a party Dj, and a bottomless pit of musical knowledge, which will be tested!

Yes, we are kicking off the '08 fall season in style! This is going to be the show to be, not just a show, but a 'happening' to be at. If you care about your country or if you want to process what's been going on, or just want to get out and see your friends again or if you want to get out and feel like a New Yorker after the social desert of August. Either way, you need to get down to Sweet on TUES!

I advise you to get there on time for this one, esp if you want a seat...and I know you want a seat!!

Ready on 'Day 5',
Seth Herzog

If you want off this newsletter, than I'll know you support Bristol Palin's "choice" to not have her mother fake a second pregnancy....
