Brainyaxe @ The Bowery Poetry Club
308 Bowery - $5
I must have been drunk when I made this lineup, because it's too much comedy for one night. For the record, I'm generally drunk, but for religious reasons.... and the sweet, sweet taste of alcohol.
We're back, with another killer line-up of brilliantly hilarious comedians. This month...
Pete Holmes
He's been on over three seasons of VH1's "Best Week Ever" and VH1's All Access television programs as well as Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and "Honesty" series. He's published cartoons in The New Yorker, and he can eat more chicken than any man on this earth.
Hannibal Burress
Our old friend from Chicago is back in town. He's been to Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham and a million other things. This guy is trippy as hell and will take you on a journey to the center of your mind.
Eliza Faria-Santos
Eliza Faria-Santos fluctuates between crippling insecurity and utter megalomania, officially making her a "genius-piece-of-crap." When she feels that it is safe to leave the apartment, Eliza Faria-Santos performs standup comedy.
Will Franken
"Imagine a surreal-estate agent guiding you through some Escher-like architectural marvel, where each room is its own deeply funny, satirical dream, every passageway a verbal wormhole, and in the corner a shaggy high priest of nothing's-sacredness is fiddling with a bunch of knobs on what looks like an espresso maker. Suddenly you wake up and remember that the lanky comedic heavy-lifter who put the abs on absurdity with last year's Good Luck with It returns to the Marsh for a one-off. . . . The moral? Existence may be fleeting, but Franken is not to be missed."
- San Francisco Bay Guardian
Jesse Popp
Representing the great state of Michigan, Jesse has been on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, runs a weekly show at the Beauty Bar on 14th Street (where you can get your nails done or whiskey neat.) and is busy gentrifying Bushwick. He's a friend of the show and freakin' funny.
Christopher Michael Wilkes
Christopher used to host Brainyaxe before he moved on to other things, including offering tours of New York City with a British accent, performing improv, and lobbying to turn the "Freedom Hole" into a wishing well. We're glad to have him back.
Sven Wechsler
Your host and Brainyaxe producer, the official reining Mr. Lower East Side, a man who has been on the National Geographic Channel wearing a Nazi uniform for very little money. Hey, it’s showbusiness.
… and a couple surprises….
