Get there early and witness Brody's Baseball Bizarre, 8pm
ON BEHALF OF JEN KIRKMANS:
Hey everyone!
I highly recommend that you come and support “Morgan Murphy presents Jen Kirkman” and other guests this week at UCB!
The theater has been kind enough to let us do our show there once a month and it’s always different and fun. I’m hoping to get a good crowd in this week.
We did not do the show last month so I’m hoping that didn’t hurt any momentum.
Morgan is actually out of town but I’ll be taking over for her as host (maybe there will be some lip syncing and dancing instead of a monologue. Who knows?)
Natasha Leggero will be taking the “first guest” and co-host spot.
We will interview Andy Kindler and Paul F. Tompkins! You’ll definitely see them unlike any other time you see them at UCB – at the mercy of having to answer my questions about their careers.
Our musical guest is Brendan Hines. He’s great. You can check him out here. http://www.myspace.com/thebrendanhines
And Ron Lynch is our house band!
Hope to see you guys there, this Friday, August 8th @ 10pm!!! Please come!
(Make a reservation at the theatre, so that they know how many are coming. 323 908 8702)
Xoxo

She will always be Nurse Kirkman to me.

This show sounds like it would make a great podcast.

Despite a fairly douchey crowd, this show was very fun. I thought the combo of Jen and Natasha worked quite well, especially during the first chunk of banter. Jen's single mini-serving of wine kicked in later and made for some awkward moments, but that became a source of humor. Kindler was on fire for much of the show, but I couldn't hear a lot of his un-mic'd comments. PFT was funny as ever and had some interesting stories about working in The Biz. One involved Matt Damon's fantastical supplements that said actor took during a shoot. Two containers (the smaller floating inside the larger, the latter filled with "blue liquid") held some sort of clear "cubes" that Matt would casually eat (?) during breaks. This led into a bit about Damon being an alien who is just trying to assimilate.
The show was very fun. I think the audience was good. They were there for a talk show. So I think they were a little quieter then if it was just a stand up show. I think it was polite more then anything else.
Natasha showed one of the most disturbing videos. It was an interview with two Paris and Nicole want to bes who stole money from a fucking 9 year old Girl Scout.
Exactly what made the audience douchey? They seemed receptive to the show on my side.
Also, I loved Jen's tribute to Liza, something I can appreciate as a musical nerd.
Jen as Sally Bowles, lip synching to the whole "(Life is a) Cabaret" number.
Only to have Ron Lynch interrupt the song in the middle to ask if it was over yet.
Ron, as the house band, holds up a tape recorder to the mic to play music.
"I think this is illegal."
Natasha Leggero as co-host of the night, talks about her fox stole...
and Brendan Hines (the musical guest) is a little freaked out by it.
Paul F. Tompkins and Andy Kindler talk about wearing a tasteful short and the show "Fuck off, with Byron Allen".
Also, here's Natasha's video. Watch and be amazed.

..and shortly after the Girl Scout incident, the girls walked out on their denny's tab and subsequently were arrested as it violated their probation.
