Slipping under all but The Coming's careful radars, last Wednesday hailed Erik Charles Nielsen's inaugural comedy show "Horse Fight."
Hosted by the dear Mr. Nielsen himself -- and, granted, this reviewer admits a certain personal bias in favor of said emcee -- Horse Fight at R Bar proved to be the perfect show at the perfect venue. While CDR-spoiled comedy fans may not find huge names at Horse Fight just yet, they will find a lively pace (show time, according to ECN, will never exceed an hour and 20 minutes), outstanding comic talent, and plenty of camaraderie. Additionally, in attendance at the show and afterparty were New York's brilliant Reggie Watts and the Daily's Show's Wyatt Cenac, among others. Also, since the show starts and ends on time (!), public transportation is totally do-able, drunkies. Drink and Metro!
I wasn't paid to write this, but Erik did buy me a [ginger ale and vanilla vodka] for taking pictures. Here are my favorites (click on any to view the set):
