After five years of doing a show EVERY monday night at El Cid I finally decided last night that I'm over the place. El Cid is great and the old owners were great. Sadly (two months ago) it was bought by some new guys who aren't so great. When I coupled the new owners with the problems that already exist with El Cid (too big - seats 150 people, bad acoustics, electrical problems, smelly bathrooms) it added up to the fact that I needed to find a new venue. For the past two months I was looking for the perfect location and I found it!! Thanks to my friend George Earth who runs "The Talk Show" every monday night at 10pm at the Hyperion Tavern. I'm super excited to move the show, which is starting THIS monday April 27th:
EVERY MONDAY NIGHT THREE SHOWS FOR FREE:
8pm - Misbegotten Video Show
9pm - Garage Comedy Presents
10pm - The Talk Show
The best news, we don't have to charge anything. The show is FREE again!! The beers are cheap, free street parking, and we still have good old Corky Baines, professional roadie.
here's a picture from inside Hyperion Tavern
here's a yelp about it.
You know that shady-looking abandoned shack on Hyperion across from Casita Del Campo? Some hipsters broke in one nite, put in a couple new lightbulbs, got a 6-pack of beer and called all their friends.
The party was such a hit that now they do it every nite! Sometimes a bunch of art school bands play and then we are treated to some spoken word, sometimes a hot chick plays the accordian and makes you dress up in costumes, sometimes there is dancing, and sometimes they have toilet paper.
Wait, are we revealing one of Silverlake's best kept secrets? Oops.
p.s. Just bring your own booze. It's so dark in there that no one will notice.
