About the show
Through his top-rated Comedy Central specials, Mike Birbiglia has emerged as one of the hottest young comics in recent years. In his new one-man show, Sleepwalk with Me, Mike explores his fears of love, honesty, and death, and discusses how his bouts with sleepwalking nearly killed him. The Pico Playhouse and Geffen's Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theatre will be hosting an exclusive limited-run reading of the show, which begins its Off-Broadway run in November*.

Do not expect a typical standup show with applause/woo breaks*, you won't find them here.
This show is very much the kind of linear storytelling that's fitting in a formal theater setting.
It runs about 90 minutes.

*Birbiglia did, in fact, use the term "woo break" last night when someone woo'ed for the mention of Michigan.

Birbigs is performing at UNC Chapel Hill on November 12th. Tickets go on sale October 28th. Pricing information coming soon! So anyone within an hourish drive should probably mark that date on the calender.

saw the show on saturday in SF. it's been a year since i've seen birbiglia (he seemingly ends up in sf annually every october) and it was about 80% new material (to me, though I was told a good amount can be heard on This American Life) with lots of little jokes and asides sprinkled in from previous albums. I still think that he is one of the best at that, repurposing material in other stories, or fleshing out older jokes with the stories that inspired them. I know it's a little late now, but you should definitely check out the tour if you still have the chance.

So the show at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC on November 12th (yes, as in 2 DAYS FROM NOW) just got opened up to the general public. He had previously asked for the show to just be for students, but despite our best efforts to advertise the show and stir up some excitement, we couldn't sell more than about 600 tickets to students. I suppose that should be expected, even $10 is a lot to a college student.

But what does this all mean for you? It means you can go to http://memorialhall.unc.edu/ to buy your tickets for $20! Some really fantastic seats are still available, I'd recommend you come down and check out the show if you have nothing better to do on a Thursday night!! Because if you do, we get to keep bringing in these amazing comedians. And our funding is kinda on the fritz right now.
