    MD/DC/VA Comedy

I hope this is the appropriate place to resurrect this thread.

First the bad news: I've heard that Paul F. Tompkins at the Arlington Drafthouse in VA has again been postponed (indefinitely?). It's already been postponed before, more than once I think, but now he's not even on the website/schedule/calendar thing. So, fingers crossed that he'll make it one day.

Now the good news: Neil Hamburger at The Ottobar in Baltimore, August 1st. The Ottobar is a cool scuzzy little joint which gets some great music. I've never seen comedy there before but it should be fun.

word from the drafthouse is that the PFT show has indeed been moved again, this time to fri. 11/14 & sat. 11/15, first at the new MoCo location & then the original arlington one.

fingers crossed these dates finally stick! (and that andy kindler actually reschedules his now-long-ago canceled gig, too, for that matter.)

PFT has confirmed his rescheduled drafthouse dates & posted them on myspace, although the schedule seems to indicate both will be in arlington. i'm sure ol' drafty will specify closer to the time. (then again, i'm a little nervous about them opening a 2nd venue. hope it's not overreaching.)

meanwhile, mostly in dc* and in less than two weeks, there's this:

i haven't been to one of these yet, but a lot of the shows look fun this year.

*lizz winstead's appearance at the drafthouse is also affiliated with the comedyfest.

DC Comedy Fest has a Chicago comics show on Aug. 8 where you can see some of what we've been missing from Dan Telfer's show and elsewhere in Chicago, most noteworthily Hannibal Buress. I also plan on seeing Neil Hamburger at the Black Cat on the 6th and Todd Barry with Tig Notaro at Synagogue at 6th & I on the 9th, both in DC. It's rock it time.

yeah, this one's a tad easier to deal with (never thought i'd say that about myspace!): http://www.myspace.com/dccomedyfest.

also, tix are still available, for just $11 (http://www.goldstar.com/events/venue...rafthouse.html), to see brian posehn this weekend at the drafthouse (& lizz winstead next weekend).

and darn it, i'd meant to mention mr. hamburger's coming back to the black cat - with daiquiri, of course! just $10: http://www.blackcatdc.com/schedule.html.

controversy! or rather, area comics understandably upset by their relative scarcity at this year's comedyfest: see dc comedy 4 now's blog.

fyi, the recently emmy-nominated carrie fisher has brought her one-woman show wishful drinking to dc this month!

Just got a facebook announcement from Todd Barry- June 26th and 27th at Arlington Drafthouse. I thought it might be worth mentioning here as it seems sort of last-minute.

I'll be spend a week in Baltimore next month. Does anyone know of any open mics in the area? Google wasn't any help.
