Just got home, If this show is any indicator of how all shows at the madcap are run Tempe might become a legit, comedy hub.
Best show i've been to pretty much period.
·'No, you're wrong Shmee. They're not bad people. They love me. They don't really mean it when they tell me to get kidnapped.'
Agreed. When I heard it was at Madcap I was worried, I figured it would be the last place a comic would want to perform at. But the limitations of the venue (no green room and the bizarre "dead air" sound that comes from being in a sound isolated movie theater) really made the show something special.
Highlights (from the 10PM show):
-The pre-show conversation Marc had with everyone as we came in.
-Eddie's heckler bit.
-Marc's Todd Barry impression. (accompanied with him snapping in my face)
-Being called a pussy for groaning at the tampon joke.
I really hope the venue doesn't scare off comedians. There was something very personal about the show, and it made the performances even better for me. That being said, tonight's crowd was extremely well behaved. I think the venue could easily make uninterested audiences and hecklers even worse. I can't wait to see Todd Barry there in a few weeks.
