Fans of the hit show It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will have their chance to see the gang up close and in person as they take “The Nightman Cometh” on the road. The musical performance was written by Rob McElhenney (Mac), Charlie Day (Charlie) and Glenn Howerton (Dennis) who all star along with Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee), and Danny DeVito (Frank) with special appearances by Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Waitress) and Artemis Pebdani (Artemis). “The Nightman Cometh” is a live stage adaptation of a fan favorite episode from season four in which Charlie writes a rock opera to woo his longtime obsession, The Waitress. The stage show originally premiered in Los Angeles last Spring and, based on the success and fan buzz generated by the musical, producers decided to bring the live show on the road.

I really loved the song when they played it for 10 seconds in season 3.. but they are milking the shit out of it now. An entire episode (season finale, no less) and a tour? I'm sure this will get a DVD or CD release, too.

Yeah, I just got back from this, and it was definitely kind of a ripoff. I spent $50 for my ticket, and this was the itinerary:

- Really shitty opening band (they came out and the first thing they said was "It's always sunny in Philadelphia, but it's always fuckin' rockin' in Beantown!". That pretty much set the tone for their whole set). I looked around during the set and couldn't find a single person who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Why not have a stand-up open up instead of a band?

- A few minute clip from their upcoming Christmas DVD

- An episode from the upcoming season

- Then the 'main event', The Nightman Cometh, which was basically a live version of the episode, with maybe 15 minutes or so of material added onto the play-within-the-show.

I kind of walked away from the thing with a bad taste in my mouth. It also didn't help that the venue (The House of Blues) really is more of a music venue and wasn't suited for this kind of performance....me and my friends couldn't really see much of anything.
