X Files I Want to Beleeb

Saw this, opening day at 4:40 PM and we were practically alone in the theater. I sort of enjoyed it while I watched, but afterwards I realized it was a big sucky piece of suck. Thoughts? Disagree?

I wanted to Believe this would be a good movie....

I saw the midnite showing and gotta say it was just ok more like a straight stand alone episode. I had just caught the Boggs ep on sci fi before I saw the movie so to me it was like oh ok. I think if this movie had been like a TV movie it would have been awesome.

It just made me go oh yeah I used to miss seeing this show back in the day. The only thing that gets people excited about this movie is all the people who wanted Mulder and Scully to hook up.... ( mind you back in the day I was one of those nerds). And you get your money's worth only in that aspect.

    Spoiler:

Amanda Peet's casting was a bit of a head scratcher. Her character was a non-entity. Billy Connolly and Xzibit, as well. It made no sense to cast relatively well-known people in boring roles and cast unknowns as the villains.

The script was the real letdown. It was barely TV-movie grade. The plot seemed to be cobbled together to provide the characters with psychologically troubling situations to blunder through.

I couldn't believe how mind numbingly dull this was. Just left a 10:30 showing that had five people in it.

It felt like an episode that was given a rather weak b-story that was almost completely at odds with itself. The link that tied them together was extremely tedious.

I knew I should have left when that "joke" happened early on.

I wasn't sure if this was going to be worth getting excited about, and now I know. I guess I'll wait six weeks to Netflix it, rather than pay to see it in a theater and end up getting angry. Disappointing, for sure. I'd been hoping for a solid X-Files story.

Oh, this craps on my day. I'm a huge fan and I was all, "A new movie? Gee I dunno" but I have not heard one good thing about it yet. When I watch the trailer I have 2 thoughts; "Is that Billy Connolly?" and "Hey her hair got long."

Is it so bad that it's worthy of the Rifftrax treatment?

I could be... if the riffers were huge X-nerds. Or only if they weren't. I felt like if someone had just described the TV show to me sight-unseen I would have been even more disappointed in the movie. But they rifftrax'd Spiderman 3, which wasn't remotely bad enough to warrant it. If I were Nelson et al. getting paid to do it, I'd probably feel differently, though.
