Here's a list from the LA Times of the top 25 films about LA in the last 25 years:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...allery?index=1
Unfortunately, online it's done as a photo section, where they start at 25 and you have to click your way to No. 1, which might be more fun than reading the newspaper, but the paper is much faster.
1-25
LA Confidential
Boogie Nights
Jackie Brown
Boyz N the Hood
Beverly Hills Cop
The Player
Clueless
Repo Man
Collateral
Big Lebowski
Mulholland Drive
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Training Day
Swingers
Devil in a Blue Dress
Friday
Speed
Valley Girl
To Live and Die in L.A.
L.A. Story
To Sleep With Anger
Less Than Zero
Fletch
Mi Vida Loca
Crash
The ones I would argue are missing, and the ones I would replace BH Cop, Speed and Crash with are:
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -- Robert Downey Jr.'s speech on the young women who move to L.A. to work in show business is spot on.
Colors -- Gangs, and the LAPD and Sheriff's Department's handling of them were a big deal in the '80s .
Falling Down -- No film better captures the heat and traffic of L.A. and their effect on crazy white racists.
