What's the point of coming to a message board multiple times a day just to talk about how much you hate the message board. We are on this Earth for way too short a time to waste so much of it on a website that apparently makes you angry. And I really don't think that me saying Liezl should have been able to post a GIF on the DLM thread means I am entitled. Doug didn't like what I was posting on his thread so I stopped posting on his thread. I didn't go on there and whine to him or try and state my case. I just left. Where is the entitlement?
Also, BillBrasky is pretty much the smartest person on this board because he always says exactly what I am thinking, but does so in a way that makes sense and is way more diplomatic than I am capable of. Keep it up, Bill.
While I can't really get on board with the negativity of this post -- I still like AST and I find it informative and fun -- Arch is right about the site's lack of comedian participation. I got here in 2007 and there were still threads for Patton, PFT, Louie, and Adomian (at least). My sense of why they left is: their threads had become muddled with a lot of mundane questions and comments, to which they felt somewhat obligated to respond. Whether this obligation was simply their perception or the product of the posters' entitlement, I'm not sure.
Either way, I think we all need to realize that any well-known comedian that posts here is voluntarily making him or herself available, and when participating begins to feel obligatory, it loses its point and its fun. Ultimately, it becomes work. AST, above all, should not be "work" for anybody, except the mods (who we should treat like shit at every possible turn).
So ... cut Doug some slack in his threads, especially (not even) when he asks not to post GIFs. Those things pinwheel the fuck out of my computer.
And speaking of pinwheels, Brasky, you've officially become a broken record.

It's not about DLM. It's about the steadily decreasing quality of posts/posters. My issue is with your choice to support the rabble and their "right" (read entitlement) to post non stop drivel in every thread over measured, intelligent,well thought out posts that ultimately would have kept all those comics here as active participants.

Arch and I met on this site, and met up before the Hedberg tribute. We found out where the after celebration was because of this site, and hung out with comics who felt comfortable with us becuase they knew us from here. That is an unimmaginable scenario at this point. Congrats, shitheads.

Talking to comics and talking about their comedy are two different things that shouldn't happen in the same place. Personally, I'm more interested in the the second one, but that might just be me.

All right, all right. I admit that I haven't helped matters by talking about stupid shit sometimes that wasn't really worth talking about. I've already made a vow that I'm not going to discuss anything sexual any more as it just seems to get people upset and rarely ends well.
I hope maybe if we steer back towards discussing things we like and have in common maybe we can avoid some of the unpleasantness. I do enjoy contributing here and hope for a more pleasant attitude in the future.
