Just saw this, so weird. I mean i guess not really he had cancer but, still a bit of a shock.

As much as I think he was a huge piece of shit for being a global warming-denier and subsequently writing into his stories real-life detractors (as pedophiles! Kind of a dick move!), I have to admit that the Andromeda Strain movie had a huge impact on me when I saw it as a child.
Also: Westworld. What the fuck?!
Congo was an OK read and a crappy movie. Sphere, I heard the book was better than the movin' picture. Lost World wasn't a great sequel but Jurassic Park was a page turner. Can't remember if I read anything else of his. I remember being in awe that this guy went to medical school and then just became a writer. If I trained so long and hard for something like the medical profession or lawyering, it would be difficult to pass it up.
Hence the ER show and alot of the intimate medical knowledge you would find in his books.
