Now I understand the 'virtual' guarantee. It seemed real, but was actually false.

Hey, check me out. I'm a ghost.
Man I don't even like either of these teams.
The guaranteeorium is closed for the time being.
Boston is winning every battle on the boards and are making Vancouver play the game in the gutter. This series is lost if they don't find a way to solve Thomas.
Bob Essensa once said, while playing for the Jets, "You've got to be good to be lucky and you've got to be lucky to be good". He is currently the Bruins golatending coach. Obviously luck can't be taught or transferred but the way Thomas is playing he's making his own.
If you're able to ignore the unfortunate nationalism of the post title there is an interesting blog about goaltending and the unjust criticizm Louongo has faced, here...

If the Nucks can keep the physical game up awhile maintaining their speed and forcing the Boston turnovers like they did in game 5 it should go their way tonight.
Yeah, yeah, Arch. Roberto LeBrongo.

2 of Lou's goals he had no chance on. He should have stopped the 5 hole and Schnieder had no chance on the redirect. You can't be blaming the goal-tending on shots the goalie has no chance on. Conversely Vancouver's offence blew some huge opportunities at open nets ,couple that with Thomas making some GIANT desperation stops and you have the outcome we saw tonight. The bullshit the Sedins are having to put up with is disgusting to me. I don't get why the officiating is so biased against them. Multiple times in tonights game (and the series in general) there have been gross interference, roughing, cross checking offences that have gone uncalled least of all Marchand should definitely have gotten a 2 minute roughing in the third after the play had stopped and he was allowed to repeatedly punch Henrik in the face while the ref stood and watched only to step in after he allowed 6 unanswered shots. This isn't a case of two players jostling this is a superstar getting mugged and no one does anything.
I don't need to say game 7 is going to be a nail biter.
To paraphrase Luongo, all 3 of those goals would be easy saves for Thomas. Personally, I don't think the officiating is particularly biased, but one of the downsides of some of the flops that the Canucks have pulled is that the refs don't really give you the benefit of the doubt on any borderline subsequent penalties. Marchand definitely could have been called for a penalty on that play but at that point the game was over so I don't think it made a difference.
As for Game 7, I'm not sure what to expect. I've never seen a series where the complexion of the games has been so dependent on the home venue (especially for hockey, where the conventional wisdom is that home-ice advantage isn't as important as it is with other sports). Given that, I'd definitely say that the Canucks have the advantage, but I think it will be a great game. The Bruins will have to try to poke one through Luongo early on and rattle him. Also, given that these teams will be coming off of their 4th cross-country trip, fatigue could play a factor.
Marchand picked that corner perfectly. Lou was positioned properly. That shot would have beaten ANY goaltender. The shot was hardly from a bad angle, the top of the circle is prime scoring territory and as I said was placed perfectly in that top corner.
PM me for copies of the leaked screenplay for game 7. Luongo kills Snape!
Goal 3 was bullshit. Especially according to the announcers.
Seriously, though, he threw the puck at the net.
The better team won, unquestionably.
I am ashamed of those assholes rioting just because they can. I'd bet my last dollar those that are involved have never paid for a ticket to see the team play live. It's disgusting and casts such a poor light on the city as a whole, during what had otherwise been an amazing show of support during a wicked final series.

i'm in vancouver now. i was downtown watching the game on the big screens and left just after the open net "goal." it was really easy to get out and catch a bus, but apparently the riots started minutes after i booked it. my friend's sister is still downtown and she's holed up in a hotel because the buses aren't running and the bridges are all closed. we're hoping she can make it to the skytrain at some point and pick her up. this is messed up.
