It's weird to see, and clearly stacked to create a false sense of home ice dominance that, (in Bettman's eyes) will hopefully translate into greater attendance in the smaller US struggling markets.
Apart from giving the home team the easy win, I don't see why it's being done. Granted, the away squads are getting ice time they might not normally be getting, but under what conditions? David and Goliath scenarios with no regular coaching staff to support them?
It's gimmicky and I don't like it.
That said, The Home Jets looked great in their 6-1 rout of the "not really Bluejackets".
